We are pleased to announce that our café has be re-opened – Hurrah!
Initially it will be on a limited menu and with only external seating and takeaway available. We have shuffled our seating around to allow for more tables outside an have also created a second external area between the 2 polytunnels. Facemasks and social distancing measures will still need to be followed, including the rule of 6 or 2 households guidelines.
The limited seating means we will be focusing on sandwiches, cakes and drinks with no cooked food initially, allowing us to gauge the levels of demand and preventing food going to waste. We will be regularly reviewing what we offer so the menu will be changeable and as we get back into the swing of it and if demand supports it will look at introducing hot food as we can.
Currently we are expecting to open fully on the 17th May with indoor seating available and our complete summer menu in all its tasty glory.
We look forward to welcoming you back!
Please note that we are taking Card Only payments.
May we remind everyone of the extra COVID guidelines you need to follow when visiting the café and garden centre.
• Must wear a face covering in indoor public places unless you have an exemption (but obviously not whilst eating or drinking)
• No socialising with anyone outside of people you live with or your support bubble in any indoor setting
• Must not socialise in a group of more than 6 in an outside area
These are in addition to the guidelines previously in place.
Please take note of the following:
Hand Sanitisers are provided at the welcome desk, at the till and at the outer entrance door to the loos. Please use them!
To comply with the government track and trace objective the lead member of each party will need to complete the contact details slip and post it in the box provided. (NB Loyalty card holders will only need to provide their membership number, date and time.) The slips will be kept for 21 days and then destroyed.
Take a seat at your table and note the table number. Available tables that have been cleared will have been thoroughly sanitised.
The main menu board is above the counter and copies of this are displayed in several locations to enable you to make your choices. When you have decided what you want will just one member of the party go the counter to place and pay for the order.
After your meal please leave used crockery and cutlery etc on the tables for the staff to collect.
If there is a queue, we will do our best to give you an estimated waiting time. In this instance and if you choose to wait, to help social distancing, it would be preferable if only one member of the party were to remain in the queue. Please feel free to explore the rest of the garden centre while you wait. There may be availability in our take-away picnic area. On nice days this is particularly suitable for larger parties (no more than 6 people). Please note that all food and drinks ordered for this area will be served in take-away containers. On departure please put all waste in the bins provided.
Thank you for your continued support and bearing with us and all the changes!
At Root One we allow dogs on leads in the garden centre and on the Café terrace. Please note that due to hygiene reasons we cannot allow dogs, except guide dogs, inside the Café.
We cater for all at Root One and have a menu designed with Gluten Free and Vegetarian options. We have a great menu for the little eaters too.
