Administration Manager

We are looking for an Admin Manager to work alongside, and run the business jointly with, our Operations Manager. This is a hugely important, mostly office based, role that will require an array of skills to cover several key areas of retail management, to ensure the smooth running and continued growth of our successful Garden Centre busines.  This is the backstage role that makes the front of house tick! In the absence of the Operations Manager you will be the most senior member of staff on site.  Potentially this could be a Monday to Friday job, although all current full-time garden centre members of staff work alternate weekends and have a regular day off in the week. For us, however, the most important deciding factor here will be finding the right person.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Finance – to include budgeting, forecasting, payroll, VAT returns, to liaise with our bookkeeper and to oversee the day to day financial management of the business.
  • Marketing – to promote the Centre via the existing website and social media tools, and to support and be involved with marketing, advertising and PR activities.
  • Sales and Product Management – to maximise profit opportunities whilst retaining the integrity of our brand. To assist with sales strategies and analysis, pricing and stock management.
  • HR – to manage all aspects of HR administration and assist the Operations Manager with all staff issues and concerns. To maintain appropriate records and to assist with staff recruitment, retention and progression.
  • Resources – to ensure that all necessary and statutory paperwork, including health and Safety obligations, are current and up to date. To maintain an inventory of company equipment, tools and materials and to ensure that appropriate records are kept current and that maintenance schedules are carried out.

Ideal candidate:

  • Someone who can demonstrate leadership, diligence, discipline and competence.
  • Will have experience in retail management.
  • A good knowledge of EPOS systems.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Highly organised and can work under pressure, especially through our busy periods.
  • A team player.

Hours: Mon-Fri – 9.00am-5.30pm
Salary: £35k – 40k  depending on experience.

Full Time – Sales Assistant

We are looking for a dynamic, friendly and outgoing sales assistant to join our garden centre customer services team. This is a full-time position with alternate weekend working and a regular day off during the week. This is a vital role and will require accuracy and discipline in order to deliver the best result for the company and the best experience for our customers.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Serving customers on the shop floor and answering any questions they may have.
  • Operating the till using the merchant card machine and taking cash payments.
  • Checking off goods in.
  • Re-stocking shelves.
  • Daily housekeeping.
  • Helping customers carry heavy items to their cars, such as gravel bags etc.

Ideal candidate:

  • A friendly and engaging personality.
  • Good communication skills and able to work efficiently through the busy periods.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with members of the public.
  • Willingness to learn, take instruction and work under own initiative.

Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week.
Salary: £15k – 17k  depending on experience.
